A word for mentors and mentoring scheme organisers.......
Differences between coaching and mentoring can be difficult to define, perhaps the type of relationship and the professional boundaries are the key to any definition?
Although both the title of the book “A Guide to Coaching and Mental Health” and the word “coach” may lead to a supposition that this training is designed specifically for coaches this is not the case.
The background knowledge needed is the same for both the mentor and the coach and the ethics and boundary management are common in intent if not in the precise wording.
Mentors, and other similar professionals can be assured that they will gain relevant knowledge and skills by attending this course and by reading the book.
“Working on the Boundary”will provide effective training for mentors as readily as for coaches.
